Kentucky offers several programs that can help individuals pay for Commercial Driver's License (CDL) training. The Kentucky Career Center provides funding through the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) for eligible job seekers, which may cover tuition, books, testing fees, and other training-related expenses. Students attending participating Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS) schools may also qualify for the Work Ready Kentucky Scholarship to help pay for CDL programs. Individuals receiving SNAP benefits may be eligible for assistance through the SNAP Employment and Training (SNAP E&T) program, which supports education and career training. In addition, many trucking companies offer paid CDL training or tuition reimbursement in exchange for a commitment to work for the company after earning a CDL. These opportunities make it possible for many Kentuckians to begin a career in commercial driving without paying the full cost of training out of pocket.
